A GIFT OF BLOOD, A GIFT OF LIFE…
This is the phrase printed in the card given to me when I donated blood in the blood-letting operation of the Philippine Red Cross in our school last friday. That was my first time and I was a bit scared and nervous but I am also excited at the same time. I actually planned to donate blood eversince before because aside from the fact that I can help others who are in need for blood transfusion, it has also a health benefit especially for a male like me. Because, male needs a production of new blood to sustain a much healthier body, internally and externally and to prevent or cure illnesses. In fact, that was the day I just knew my blood type… which is B. HAHA.
The total blood withdrawn from my body was almost 2 bags. Each bag contains 450 cc of blood. The first bag was rejected because the blood in my right arm did not flow continuously and it stops often so the blood inside the bag just clot which cannot be used anymore. The second bag took so long to be filled because just like in my right arm, my blood also stops coming out of my nerve going to the blood bag. Then after few more minutes, luckily it was filled. The volunteers just let me rest for 10-15 minutes and then that’s it, I AM A SAVIOR! Haha :D
These were the few photos taken during the blood-letting process is being done.
